The Community Centre (also known as the Social Centre)
This is a charity set up 'for the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground and community centre for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Ashton under Hill and the immediate vicinity with the object of improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants.' (from the Charity schedule)
It has been operating since 1949 and in its present form since 1962 when the new Village Hall was built in conjunction with the First School.

- Committee Members - Gerald Barnett, Jo Brown, Phil Malcolm, Wendy Shirra, plus representative members from the Tennis Club, Cricket Club, WI, Playgroup and Brownies.
The committee organises various events through the year both as part of community building and to raise money for the maintenance and improvement of facilities.

The Village Hall and Playing Fields

The Playing Fields are located in the centre of the village and
have a cricket ground, a football pitch and two tennis courts
all occupied by thriving clubs. There is a popular children's
playground, which was completed as a millennium project in 2000. |
