The Community Centre (also known as the Social Centre)

This is a charity set up 'for the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground and community centre for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Ashton under Hill and the immediate vicinity with the object of improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants.' (from the Charity schedule)

It has been operating since 1949 and in its present form since 1962 when the new Village Hall was built in conjunction with the First school.

The Village Hall is occupied by the school during school days until 5.30pm. Out of school hours it is available for the use of village residents and organisations. It has a large stage and adjoining kitchen. Adjoining the Hall is a smaller meeting room called the Green Room which is for the sole use of the village. This is used by the playgroup currently two mornings a week. It is also used for Parish Council and other smaller meetings.
